Fidget spinner update

posted Jun 2, 2017, 8:20 AM by Valerie Dyer

As many parents know, fidget spinners are the latest craze. Some of them light up when the student spins them. Many of our students have them at school. However, the fidgets are becoming a problem. The fidgets were marketed as a way to help some students to focus. But now, the fidgets have rapidly turned into a classroom disturbance, not only for the student playing with them (as a toy) but the other students in the class.

So, if the classroom teacher allows a time for toys, that would be the time for students to use them. If they don't allow that time, the fidgets should be in a backpack or locker. (The fidgets are not allowed to be used on the buses.)

If you have any questions, please call me, Mike Benjamin @422-6231.

On May 17th, a group of volunteers helped spread a trailer load of chips on our playground. The playground looks great!
We want to thank Nick Rome, Jen Kane, Tanya Worcester, Tim Mason, Dave Brenton, and Steve Sullivan for helping spread the chips! Paige Worcester, Gavin Kane, Lilli and Ben Hanf, Tanner and Taylor Mason and Jenna Moon did a great job in helping! Maddie Kane did an excellent job using the leaf blower to clear the asphalt area of chips and dirt!
A huge thank you goes to Tara Mason and the Hancock PTO for supplying sandwiches (thanks Subway for the sandwiches) and drinks for the wood chip crew.
Special thanks to Andy Hanf for bringing his tractor to the school to help spread the chips quickly!
We are also very appreciative to George and Tracey Moon, who donated the chips and brought equipment to help spread the chips - thank you!!

posted May 9, 2017, 8:55 AM by Valerie Dyer

Parents,
Please consider attending the town meeting tonight at HGS at 6:30 to voice your opinion of the school budget.  The Hancock School Committee has worked diligently to develop a budget that will enhance program offerings for students while reducing the overall bottom line.  We hope to see you tonight!
