On May 16 at 6:00 PM RSU 24 will be offering a presentation, “If I Could Have a Do-Over” by John Halligan, specifically for parents and community members that will be held in the Sumner Memorial High School cafeteria. He will relay his own tragic experience as a dad whose 13 year old son took his own life in 2003. His story is riveting and powerful and addresses bullying both in school and on line and talks about mental health and depression as factors that contributed to his son’s vulnerability and ultimate suicide. Parents will be empowered with strategies to take preventive actions with their own children. We are opening this evening event to all communities and hope that you will share this information with your parents and community members. For more information contact Kristina Minott, LCSW, the school social worker at SMHS at 422-3510 ext 362.
